WORKOUTS START MONDAY

2007 July 20
by Willy Mac

Hey guys, for those of you in the Clemson area currently, team summer workouts will start THIS Monday the 23rd. We will be doing some sprints and cone drills for the most part, and depending on who all is here, maybe throw the ball around as well. Workouts will be on MWF at 7pm on the field directly in front of Fike on campus.

Also, EVERYBODY needs to be doing some kind of workouts on their own as far as lifting weights goes. Last year we had numerous injuries, mostly to people that had not been working out prior the start of the season. We want to cut down on injuries this year and lifting weights is important to football anyway.

Everybody send in that money as soon as possible, we are ordering helmets Monday and uniforms/pads as soon as we have the money to do so. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I hope to see you all at the workouts.

CLUB FOOTBALL UPDATE

2007 April 30
by Willy Mac

Hey guys, we have discussed the financial situation for Club Football and have come up with the amounts to be paid for playing in the fall. For those of you still interested:

If you have your own helmet or plan on getting a helmet from your HS or somewhere else (Not ordering through us): $50 is due by sometime by mid-July to help pay for equipment needed for practices and games. Another $50 will be due sometime during the season. If you have a helmet that is a different color, it is not a problem. Several players last year painted their helmet successfully…others not so successfully, but it worked out.

If you plan on purchasing a helmet through us: $100 is due by mid-July and we will have your helmet ordered and we will pay for the rest of the cost and have it in to you before practice starts in the fall. An additional $25 will be due throughout the season.

If you are not sure about what size helmet you need, let me know and I will let you try on different sized helmets to see what fits.
Everybody must also find their own shoulder pads. I have 7 or 8 pairs of pads at the house in Greenville, and if anybody is interested in buying them very cheap($20), contact me about it and I will let you try to see if any fit.

For payments: You can give me, Tom McCarthy or Will McCameron cash payments, but for most of you that do not feel comfortable with us handling cash, you can write a check to Clemson Club Football. I will send out an address to mail that check to if you need to later on in the week.

AGAIN, if any of you have ANY questions about anything, just e-mail me or give a call (864) 630-2117. Hope to see most of you playing in the fall.

Club Football President

The meeting this past Tuesday went well. New guys need to look for an e-mail summarizing the meeting. The e-mail will also contain other things like important dates and contact info for this summer.

A few quick things:

- Make sure your pads, clothes, jerseys, pants, etc are cleaned and in good working condition.

- Be lifting and running on your own.

- Stay in contact with news and information of your own via Scott’s or my own e-mail.

- We start the normal running schedule after spring break (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm) at the club fields near the baseball stadium.

- Daniel Blackmon got a job in Charleston but I forgot what it was and Albert got a job with Porsche in Germany. Congratulate them when you get a chance.

RECRUITING UPDATE

2007 February 19
by Willy Mac

Just a reminder, if you have friends that are interested about us… talk with them. Get them in contact with me and give them this website address as well as the address for the Facebook group.

In other news, Scott and Blake attended the annual league meeting this past Saturday in Charlotte and this is what was covered:

- A tentative schedule to be released.
- Rule change: Kickers can go barefoot. This is good so now Scott can boot it if need be.
- Out of conference teams of interest were noted.
- We were officially accepted into the league (Last year we were a charter member).
- ACC has decided to field a team again this year after their end of season troubles last year.
- Still no word from Duke, so I don’t think we’ll get to play them.

I think we are going to get some funding this year, so dues will be down to around $70 for returners and $100 for new guys. This is a generous estimate, so expect this number to drop some.

Also, I believe we are going to add South Alabama as an annual end of season series. This year we will be traveling to their school. We’re probably going to get the school to pay for hotel rooms and a bus. Still no word on if the local Taco Bell at South Alabama will give us free tacos for running up the score on them again next year.

That being said, I can’t get Albert to answer my emails, so if anyone has had contact with him please tell him to get with me. Oh, and Daniel Blackmon is straight thuggin’ and being jobless in Greenville. If anyone knows about any open jobs managing a McDonald’s or something like that, let me or him know. In all actuality, he’s a packaging science major so if you do hear of something good please pass the word along to him.

The team celebrates after closing out the season with a 34 – 6 victory over South Alabama.

CLUB FOOTBALL STARTING BACK!

2007 January 31
by Willy Mac
It’s time to prepare. A few of us have gotten together and planned out what we think would be the best thing for the team to do from now until April or May. We decided that we will have running workouts twice a week consisting of mostly what we did over the summer last year and the first couple of weeks of practices last fall. I know your schedules are all different, but hopefully our plan will work out fine. Either showing up Monday and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 or Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-7:30 in the evenings, hopefully on the fields around fike. Depending on intramural schedules we may have to go elsewhere, but that should work. STARTING NEXT WEEK!!!

If you CANNOT fit into either of these times in your schedule, please let me know through e-mail or call me and if enough people have problems we will schedule differently.

We will have a team meeting as well as a meeting for new people interested in playing sometime in the next couple of weeks and you will get an e-mail about it.

Bottom Line: We are running next week so I hope to see a lot of people…everybody shoot me an e-mail back letting me know which days they will probably show up for, and if you can’t make any of the days
